SAILOS Early access

About SailOS

The history follows the hull.

SailOS keeps a lasting digital record for each recreational boat you own — one hull or a fleet. The owner keeps the records. A surveyor can sign what they found. When a boat changes hands, its record goes with it.

SailOS is in early access. Join the waitlist below.

Questions people ask

General

What is SailOS?
A boat's history usually lives in a binder, a spreadsheet and photos scattered through email, and that pile is hard to trust when you sell, insure or survey her. SailOS gives each boat one record: the work, the parts, the receipts and what a surveyor found. When the boat is sold, the record goes with her.
What isn't SailOS?
It isn't a charter, booking, navigation or crew app, and it doesn't list boats for sale or take a cut of the price. It never scores a boat or sets a premium, and it doesn't replace a marine survey.

Owners

What does it cost?
From $39 a year. The first season is free. Boats under 33 ft (10 m) are $39 a year, 33–46 ft (10–14 m) are $99 a year and over 46 ft (14 m) are $399 a year. The free season lasts until your home water's season turns (1 May or 1 October), and you need no card until then. The first 10 founding owners keep a founding price for 2 years: $24 a year under 33 ft (10 m), $59 a year for 33–46 ft (10–14 m), and $239 a year over 46 ft (14 m). The founding price does not pass to a new owner on a sale. Paid plans are not switched on yet.
Whose record is it, and what if I stop paying?
It's yours. You decide who sees it, and you can download all of it at any time, as a zip or a spreadsheet. Planned, for when paid plans start: if a plan ends, the record turns read-only, nothing is deleted, and you can still download it and hand it to a buyer.

Fleets and charter companies

What does a fleet pay?
$249 per hull a year. Each boat gets her own record and her own free first season. Paying by invoice is Planned.
Can I see every boat in one place?
Today each boat has her own record. The boats one person holds are listed together, and you open one record at a time. A page that treats a charter company's boats as one fleet is Planned. Adding more people to that fleet is Planned.

Surveyors

How do I get onto a boat's record?
The owner shares an invite link. You record what you found on the part you looked at, with your photos, and it stays in the boat's record so the next survey starts from yours.
How do I sign, and how can others check it?
You sign findings on your own phone. The owner can share your signed findings as a read-only file that opens from a link, with no account needed. A check link shows whether the signatures hold, with no account.
What does it cost me?
Nothing. Surveyors use SailOS free while we build it. If you'd like to be a surveyor partner, write to support@sail-os.app.

Yards and service partners

Can a yard sign the work it did?
Planned. Yard signing will let you sign a job so it shows in the boat's record as signed by a professional. Until then, the owner records the work and keeps your invoice with it.
What about sail lofts and other specialists?
Planned. We want sail lofts and other service partners to add their work to the same record. Write to support@sail-os.app if you'd like to be among the first.

Insurers

What would I see?
A read-only file of the findings a surveyor has signed on a boat, with the photos they name, who did it and when. The owner shares it, and it opens from a link without an account. A shorter file with the sections the owner chooses is Planned.
Does SailOS score boats or set premiums?
No. SailOS shows the evidence and who stands behind it, with no scores and no premiums. Pricing the risk stays with you.

Buyers

I'm shopping for a boat. What does it cost?
Nothing. Keep the boats you're considering, note what you saw at viewings, and compare them on asking price, years owned and the cost of financing, all for free. If you buy a boat you kept, she becomes your own record and her plan starts that day, with no free season.
What do I get when I buy a boat that already has a record?
The whole history, yours to read from the day of the handover. The owner shares an invite link. The plan belongs to the boat, not the person. A transfer carries the paid-through date and does not start a new free season. If the seller had not paid, the plan starts on the day of the transfer. The founding price does not pass to a new owner on a sale. Paid plans are not switched on yet.
